Technical Diving Courses
Technical Diving Training — SSI Wreck & Decompression Pathway
For certified divers ready to go beyond recreational limits, our Technical Diving training pathway opens the door to deeper exploration, extended bottom times, and some of the most legendary wreck dives in the Mediterranean.
Delivered under the globally recognised SSI (Scuba Schools International) system, these courses are designed to develop advanced dive planning, gas management, equipment configuration, and decompression procedures — all while training in real-world technical environments.
Ayia Napa’s proximity to world-famous wreck sites and deep-water structures makes it an ideal training ground for technical divers looking to progress safely under professional supervision.
Our technical pathway focuses on four core SSI courses that build progressively, allowing divers to move from wreck penetration foundations into full decompression and twinset technical diving.
SSI Wreck Diver Course
Course Overview
The SSI Wreck Diver course introduces divers to the skills and knowledge required to safely explore wreck sites while maintaining strict safety protocols.
You’ll learn wreck navigation, hazard identification, line handling, and penetration procedures within light zones. The course focuses on building awareness, buoyancy control, and situational management inside overhead environments.
What You’ll Learn
Wreck dive planning
Hazard recognition
Safe wreck penetration limits
Guideline use & reel handling
Finning techniques for silty environments
Emergency procedures inside wrecks
This course is the foundation for all advanced wreck and technical overhead training.
SSI Advanced Wreck Diver Course
Course Overview
The Advanced Wreck Diver course expands your wreck penetration capabilities beyond light zones, introducing full overhead environment procedures and advanced line protocols.
Training focuses on complex navigation, multi-reel use, gas management for penetration, and emergency problem-solving within enclosed wreck spaces.
What You’ll Learn
Advanced penetration planning
Multi-line navigation
Gas planning for overhead dives
Lost line & lost diver drills
Zero visibility procedures
Advanced buoyancy & trim control
This certification allows divers to explore deeper and more complex wreck structures safely.
SSI Twinset Diver Course
Course Overview
The Twinset Diver course introduces divers to back-mounted double cylinder configurations — the foundation equipment setup for most technical diving.
You’ll learn equipment assembly, manifold management, shutdown drills, redundancy systems, and precise buoyancy control using twin cylinders.
What You’ll Learn
Twinset equipment configuration
Manifold & valve shutdown drills
Gas redundancy principles
Buoyancy & trim optimisation
Equipment failure management
Technical dive planning basics
This course prepares divers for decompression and extended-range technical diving.
SSI Decompression Diving Course
Course Overview
The Decompression Diving course marks the transition from recreational no-decompression diving into planned staged decompression diving.
You’ll learn how to conduct dives requiring mandatory decompression stops using accelerated gas mixes, advanced planning software, and technical dive procedures.
What You’ll Learn
Decompression theory & physiology
Dive planning using decompression models
Accelerated decompression gas use
Stage cylinder handling
Emergency decompression procedures
Extended range dive execution
This course unlocks the ability to safely explore deeper wrecks and technical sites with longer bottom times.
Training Environment
Courses are conducted in real open-water technical environments, providing practical experience rather than confined simulations.
Training may include dives on:
Deep wreck structures
Technical reef profiles
Overhead penetration sites
Decompression training platforms
All dives are supervised by certified SSI Technical Instructors.
Equipment & Configuration
Technical equipment requirements vary by course but may include:
Twinset cylinder systems
Stage/decompression cylinders
Technical regulators
Redundant buoyancy systems
Primary & backup lighting
Reels & guideline systems
Equipment rental and configuration guidance are available if needed.
Who These Courses Are For
